is inspired by the legacy of Jaleshwar Nath Sharan, a devoted freedom fighter who worked alongside Mahatma Gandhi during India's freedom movement. His deep involvement in the development and training of Khadi and Village Industries helped uplift countless rural communities and promote self-reliance.
Continuing his vision, our foundation is committed to promoting and organizing programs in rural areas, with a special focus on empowering women and strengthening their economic conditions through sustainable livelihoods.
We are dedicated to spreading the ideology of Mahatma Gandhi and implementing his eighteen constructive programs for the betterment of society. Our efforts are not just rooted in economic development, but also in fostering peace, self-sufficiency, and unity across communities.

Founder & Director, Jaleshwar Nath Sharan Foundation
Ashok Kumar Sharan is a visionary leader and a champion of Gandhian philosophy, whose career and personal life have been deeply influenced by his father, Late Shri Jaleshwar Nath Sharan. His father’s association with Mahatma Gandhi at Sevagram Ashram, where he worked to disseminate knowledge on Khadi, Charkha, spinning and weaving and Gram Swarajya, laid a strong foundation for Ashok Kumar Sharan’s dedication to community service, social reform, and sustainable development. He was profoundly influenced by his father, who often recounted remarkable experiences with Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhi had personally requested his father to teach Dr. Rajendra Prasad the art of spinning on the charkha. Dr. Prasad, who would later become the first President of India, continued to hold Jaleshwar Nath Sharan in the highest regard throughout his life.
With over three decades of experience as a Director and other posts at the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Ministry of MSME, Government of India, he has held leadership roles across states such as Delhi, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Bihar, Rajasthan, Arunachal Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. His expertise in rural development and commitment to Gandhian values have been instrumental in promoting Khadi, generating employment, and implementing development programs in these regions. He has also played a crucial role in preserving Gandhian ideals by heading the Exhibition-cum-Training Center at Gandhi Darshan, Rajghat, New Delhi as a Principal.
Upon his retirement, Ashok Kumar Sharan continued his mission as the Secretary of Gandhi Smarak Nidhi (Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh). In this role, he supervised numerous philanthropic activities, including a Naturopathy Hospital, a Bal Kalyan Kendra for destitute children, and a primary school based on the principles of Nayee Talim. He pioneered organic farming initiatives and organized workshops to promote sustainable agriculture, non-violence, and rural self-reliance.
In addition to his service at KVIC and Gandhi Smarak Nidhi, he is also the Founder Member of the Innocent World Charity Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to the welfare of children with special needs. His work has extended to other reputable institutions, where he has served as Chairman and Trustee, including Kshetriya Punjab Khadi Mandal (Panipat), Kshetriya Haryana Khadi Mandal (Bhiwani), and Ambala Khadi Ashram, Ambala.
As the Director of Childline Panipat, a project under the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, he provided unwavering support to vulnerable children through a 24-hour helpline service. His dedication raised awareness about child rights, protection, and the elimination of child labour, resulting in a stronger community network for child welfare.
Ashok Kumar Sharan’s association with the Lions Club Samalkha Highway District 321 A2 as Director, President, Zonal Chairman and Advisor has led to impactful social service initiatives, including blood donation camps, Eye camps, tree plantation drives, and the distribution of ration, clothes, try-cycles to the needy. He has been recognized and awarded for his volunteerism and community service.
His commitment to Gandhian philosophy is also reflected in his role as Convener of the Delhi Pradesh Sarvodaya Mandal, where he has worked diligently to establish and support Sarva Seva Sangh units in Arunachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, and Delhi. Under his guidance, these units have become active proponents of Gandhian principles of peace, non-violence, and community engagement.
Ashok Kumar Sharan’s contributions extend beyond administration and leadership. As a scholar and thought leader, he has written extensively on topics related to Gandhian philosophy, rural development, and social justice. His articles have been featured in prominent newspapers and magazines, and he has delivered talks on All India Radio and Television. He has also collaborated with Doordarshan to create documentaries that capture the essence and history of Khadi and Village Industries.
